OtsegoJunior High

Principal's Message

Hello Otsego Community,

After a seemingly short summer, we are back in the full swing of things at the Junior High.  The year started off great and students are fully engaged in the learning process.  Block scheduling has allowed for students to work diligently, teachers to have some sustained instructional time, time for practice, and reflection/revision time.

We strive to create an educational setting that is safe, innovative, rigorous, and focused on student-centered learning.  Our goal is to prepare our students for the next level of their educational endeavors by providing equal opportunities for all learners through meaningful and challenging learning experiences.  Paired with numerous extra-curricular opportunities our staff provides high levels of instruction while building strong relationships with our students to encourage and empower them to be innovative thinkers and problem-solvers. We believe it is important to be connected to the school through positive relationships, a sense of community, and participation in extracurricular opportunities.

We pride ourselves in being the best we can be and we encourage all students to do the same.  We are implementing a framework for our school this year to provide consistent expectations throughout our building, common language the students understand and provide instruction on how students are expected to conduct themselves in various situations. PBIS, which stands for Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports, is the model we are using to promote honesty, accountability, responsibility and being respectful.

We look forward to another successful year at the Otsego Junior High, and hope that you do as well.  Please feel free to contact me at [email protected] or 419-823-4381 option 3 if you have any questions or comments.

Thank you,

Jon Rife, Principal
